First find out if your sound card still has the driver instilled sometimes drivers stop working mainly because they need updating. Best way to do this is find out your sound cards serial number which will be on the card its self. If its a on board sound card then look for the mother board serial number (normal in bold writing). type that into goggle then put sound card driver. when you look around the websites and finally find the write one down load install and restart if it still isn't working then its your card or on board which isn't working or you simple got a faulty speakers i had that once before with labtec.

i understand that you have connected the speakers correctly but they stopped working suddenly. Solutions 1.Check whether the device drivers are installed properly 2.Check whether in the control panel->sounds & audio devices->Device volume->Mute is unchecked & volume is high

click start > all programs > accessories > entertainment > volume control look and make sure that none of the sliders are at the bottom and also that none have a check mark next to mute

Check your drivers to see if the sound card has been installed properly. If they have, then go to step two, where you could go to the bottom right hand corner, there should be a little speaker, if it has the mute symbol on it, i would make sure that it is NOT Muted. if that is still a problem from step one and two. then i would suggest contacting the people who made the speakers there could be a faut with them, if they say its okay, then i would contact Microsoft.
