Why are Windows Media Player slowing down?

Why does windows media player 10 and 11 not recognize my cd burner?

  • Windows Media Player will play CDs, but it doesn't recognize my LG CD drive as a CDRW drive. I've already tried reinstalling windows, uninstalling/reinstalling the CD Drive, and installing current drivers for the CDRW drive. I can burn CDs using a 3rd party program or using the XP internal CD burner. I just can't get Windows media player to burn CDs. I've also lost the ability to autorun CDs. I've checked Microsoft Help and Support, but this didn't help either. Any ideas would be appreciated.

  • Answer:

First...You should only have 1 version of Media Player installed other wise they may "argue", (program conflict) Second...It is a PLAYER, not a burner!! (CD drives are CD drives and that is all to a player!!)

if ur trying to use >dvd. disk . win xp does not recognize them u have to use dvd burning software . is ur cd-rw .also a dvd -rw. autorun CDs .put cd in drive right hit drive . hit properties. dot >select an action to perform .. hin on a player to set that to auto run hit on >Apply and ok <<

you probably have some viruses in your system. Try to download the free version of registry cleaner to see if there are any bugs or viruses running your system. Trust me, that happened before where i didn't have to reinstall the drive. If not go to the Start Menu and right click on My Computer and go to manage and go to device manager; see the DVD/CD Rom Drive; right click on the Drive that runs your CD's and uninstall and restart. Afterwards, good luck.
