Why won't my speakers work?

Why wont my computer speakers work?

• I bought the Inspire 5.1 5300 speakers a few years ago. they worked fine until my old computer died. I am now using a Gateway computer that is running on windows 7 and I double check that the cords were in the right slots but the computer still dosen't recognize the speakers and says that there is no audio devices plugged in. I know the speakers work because when i turn them on, i can hear the buzzing sound that speakers make. Please help!!!

  Have you checked the drivers? That can be the source of the problem. An outdated or wrong driver can leave the device out of service. You should check that and see if that's the problem. Hope that helps!
