Why does my computer randomly crash to a Black Screen?

My computer is crash (nothing appear on screen), though i can see the PC and monitor light is on. Pls help?

  • Yesterday, this happened, i tried to fastened the cable from monitor to pc and it worked. But, yesterday, suddenly there was an icon appear and disappear not long after that, just like you've download smthg. I used Lavasoft AdAware antispyware to check and clean the computer right away. This morning, the 1st time i on the PC, i still can hear "beep" but nothing appear on screen. So i off the power and try to on it again, but no "beep" sound (indicating the system is booting) after that. Nothing appears on my screen. Though, i can see the PC green light from floppy disk, then goes to my dvd drive that shows it seemed it's booting. Though, there's no beep sound and nothing appear on screen. I'm using my friend's pc now. Pls, anyone can help me? Thanks a lot.

You probably pulled at the cable that connects the monitor to the pc.My brothers wife did this to our old one and we had to get a new one.If you pull to hard you can mess up the pins inside of the pc that hook the monitor up to the mother board.open up the pc and see if the part that connects to the monitor has damaged pins.If so your gonna need a new mother board or know how to soldier

check the monitor plug for any broken pins (this happened to my monitor) if there is a broken pin then line up the monitor plug to the socket on your PC and then fill the corresponding socket with tin foil, this worked for me

I think the light going from floppy to DVD is indicating the BIOS is looking for the boot drive and not finding any. On my system when the boot drive is asleep or some such I get a single flickering "-" top left. (this has nothing to do with your problem just wondering if you get that also) I would think you should be able to put the DVD that the OS came on in and turn on the machine. Someone else may know if there are any diagnostics on the DVD to troubleshoot the system. If the problem is the boot drive you might get more info that way.
