How do I install sound device on my PC?

Are you a pro in pc's?... I don't hear any sound from my PC... Help me please?

  • Hi everybody, I am not an expert in pc's, I don't hear any sound from my speakers, I already check the volume and I tried with the troubleshooter but anything works. The only things that I see in the sound and audio device properties are VIA AC'97, AUDIO CODETS, LEGACY AUDIO..., MEDIA CONTROL..., LEGACY VIDEO..., VIDEO CODECS, STANDART GAME.... I recently take my pc to technician and maybe he forgets to install something, I can't spend more money. I wanted to know how I can fix the problem, the technician didn't give to me any recovery disks and I don’t have any of the original cd's because this is an old pc. I already download a program from driverguide.com that a friend recommended to me but still nothing! Please help me my dear friends and thank you for your time. My email address is [email protected] if you need more details.

  • Answer:

Are you running windows XP or 98SE? check driverguide.com for your sound card and drivers for your OS. Without the original cds, you either have to go to the manufacturer of your sound card or to driverguide.com

Hi there. I can help as I had plenty of success in this area of tech support. Go to the device manager and look up the sound card. If you have a red x then its bad if you see a yellow mark then it needs to be re-installed. If that is the case then you can UN-install it by right clicking the device and click UN-install..Don't worry about it getting lost. Once you are done doing that then reboot the PC .... The computer will then notice the missing hardware and look up the new driver for the sound card. If not then open up the computer where the sound card is. Replace it with a new one or a used one that works. Sound cards are real cheap. Most computers have what they call pnp short for Plug and Play which means that you didn't have to manually put the driver in.
