How to install USB Drivers from USB flash drive?

Can you install normal programs on a USB flash drive?

  • I want to install my copy of Rosetta Stone on my Flash drive because I have multiple computers and it would be useful. Is there a way to do this?

  • Answer:

You can, but it may only work on the computer you used to install it on. The speed may also be limited, but this depends on the software. The bigger the program, the more speed difference you will see.

No. The program would load to it, but the library files and required registry entries would still go onto your system drive. This means they will not be available for the other machines.

Yes, you can install a program on the flash drive but it will only work on the computer that you used to install it from. The reason is that during the installation of the program, files will be added in the operating Systems registry. The program on the flash drive needs to access the registry files to run and those files are on your computer and not in your flash drive.

Yes, you can. During install, simply browse for the drive and select it as the directory where you want the program installed. You just have to make sure that there is enough space, and all of the files required to run the program make it on the drive as well.

Yes, you can if you install it directly too it. I did this with Firefox and Secondlife.
