remove all unnecessary software. please diable auto start of software that are not necessary like instant messengers, email clients and other software. also check for any spyware/malware on the PC. Upgrade the RAM. if the problem started after installing a particular software, then you need to check that software. i have seen Adobe software like photoshop and other DTP software consumes more memory. its advisable that you install such software in separate partition.

There's a few things that you can do to improve the memory: * Uninstall any heavy viral software - Switch to Microsoft Security Essentials, IOBIT Advanced Systemcare, SVG, Avast, or any other free software online. * Scan for spyware/viral and registry errors - A few people do not do this and this slows down performance on the machine for hundreds of registry failures. Cleaning the registry corrects most of them. * Defrag the drive - The drive may have more than 10% fragmented if not cleaned much. Check your drive for fragments. * Unplug some USBs - Some USBs use a good deal of memory. If you have too many plugged in, they could be eating up all the memory. * Upgrade your RAM, CPU - If you can upgrade your RAM to 4/8/16/24GB, the higher the better for processing. Upgrade the CPU if you can afford it. They are all under $300 from P4 to Core2Quad. Extreme and i5/i7 you should avoid as these costs up to $2000. * Upgrade your Video card - Having very little GPU memory can hurt your performance. Using a GeForce 7000,8000/ATI 4000-4300 is very taxing on the system. Upgrade to a GeForce 9000 series or ATI 4500-4900 Series card.

what do you mean by memory? ram memory or hdd memory. to fix ram memory install new ram chips in and for the hdd memory but a external hdd or, if you know what you're doing, install a internal hdd. p.s be careful about the ram memory, it's sometimes quite complex

Have you cleaned up your cache...go to tools and clean up browsing history..that will get rid of internet pages and cookies and whole bunches of crap and you could optimize drive c and clean your registry.

Buy more RAM or change the size of the paging file
