Why Does My Usb Drive Show 0 Bytes?

My Iomega External USB Hard Drive Will Not Show Up in Windows XP?

  • For some reason, my external USB Iomega hard drive just stopped getting recognized on my Windows XP operation system. I plug the USB cable in, hear a sound like it recognized that it was plugged in, but when I go to My Computer there is nothing there for this drive. I can't access it. Anyone know how I can fix this? I do have files on it.

  • Answer:

    Re-install the software.

If your computer has an AMD CPU, and Viatech USB Host Controllers; changing the USB Host Controller drivers to standard or generic drivers, may work. Sometimes, putting a line in config.sys, helps. ie. "lastdrive=m"

Frostfire
