My computer keeps on restarting because of my hard drive?
-
Help me with this! My computer keeps on restarting every time, every where. even before launching windows! i found out that hard drive is the problem. i inserted my hard drive in other computers and the other computers also keeps on restarting. I figured its the hard drive. I already moved all my files in a safe place so its okay to format the hard drive. What are the possible problems with this? how do i format this? i can't format it because it keeps on restarting whereas when i used it as a second hdd, it wont format when i used the right click then format method. How do I fix this? help me! thanks!

Answer:
It isn't your hard drive thats the issue, its the Operating System. If your hard drive was the issue, it wouldn't boot Windows at all (this means, no pretty logo, etc). If the computer passes the BOIS and attempts to boot the OS then it can't be the HDD, chances are its a virus. To format your computer, insert a Windows disc (this can be XP, Vista or Win 7), look for "Select boot Device" when you turn your computer on, put the disc in and then restart the computer. Next, you'll see a new screen saying "Press any key to boot from DVD/CD", you can then boot the OS & format your drive, and install a new OS. Any additional help, try googling the following > Windows (your version) Install Help > Windows Recovery Disc You can of course find dodgy results, so be careful.

Simply boot from Cd rom delete all partitions on your drive, not only format, must delete all partitions , using any partition software from cd.. *. can also check connecting pins of hdd, if any pin short with an other pin.. after removing all partitions no virus remains..but you must checked you hdd physically that any thing short or little black burnt mark..

Simply start your computer from your Microsoft Windows installation or recovery disc. During the installation process you can format the hard drive. There is no need to format it beforehand.

it might be happening because of some virus which has corrupted ur registry or system files. format ur Windows installation drive and reinstall XP. Use a good antivirus program to scan the other drives for viruses and malwares.

You need to reinstall a fresh copy of windows. If you have windowsxp boot from the disk and do a new installation. If you have windows vista or 7 then you need to get into safemode and make a recovery disk. Then use the recovery disk to format and reinstall windows. If the machine still keeps on restarting and you are unable to create a recovery disk you can find someone who has the same model machine as you and then make a recovery disk from their unit and use it to restore you own. If not then you have to Contact the manufacture to send to a restore disk to give you a website to download the iso file to create one. Good luck. Aren
In the bios, set the hard drive as the secondary boot device and the primary to CDROM. Then insert your windows cd and restart the computer. It will come up "Boot from cd-rom?....." press any key at this point and it will give you the option to format the drive. Do a fresh install and delete the primary partition first before formatting. When it copies the files it may reboot again. This same message will come up "Boot from cd-rom?..." do nothing as it already loaded the files and it will continue the install.
I am sharing an article that i searched on internet for you. It deals with your issue. I too recommend using reginout. http://ezinearticles.com/?What-Keeps-Restarting-the-Computer?---Tips-to-Deal-With-Computer-That-Keeps-Restarting&id=3739148
it sounds more like the hard drive is faulty in which case you will need to buy a new one then install windows on the new one
