Is it possible, to have a phone connected to a PC, and use the phones processor to boost PC performance?
-
I have a HTC Sensation, with a 1.2 Ghz Processor and a laptop with a 2.4Ghz processor, and I was just letting my mind wonder when I thought about a piece of software or cable of some sort enabling the phones processor to be used as a computer processor, all I'm asking is if it is possible or not.

Answer:
Hi no it is not a possibility as the processor in the phone will be of a different type to those used with in a computer as they are usually a PIC type which has dedicated software which it needs to run on. transfer of data maybe the only thing that can be done between these two units.

It would of course be possible but it would necessitate writing your own independent operating system for use on both devices as well as your own communications protocols and independent applications as well as modifying the phone to have a high speed interface such as USB 3.0 or something of that nature.

in theory any two computers connected via a network can take a problem and work on parts of it separately and combine results. So, yes. That's a minimum requirement. It takes more than that to actually accomplish it though.

Theoretically I'm sure it's possible in some realm or dimension...but as of now? No, unfortunately our technology is not that far advanced. :P

Nice idea. I'd give it a go. The worst that can happen is that your laptop would blow up.

"No". You cannot boost your PC's performance with your phones processor
