Is it okay to store electronics: computer/printer/external hard drive in a non-temp controlled facility?
-
My plan is to rent a storage facility, and will probably put items in it for one year. The weather where I'm at has all four seasons (Illinois). I don't think it's necessary to pay more for a temp-controlled room.

Answer:
Wild temperature fluctuations will age your hardware. I would be very cautious storing a computer where temperatures could drop below freezing. The metal in the circuit board will not expand and contract at the same rate as the plastics encasing it. This will lead to electrical problems.
