What is a good PC gaming headset?

Need a good headset for gaming? (PC)?

  • Im looking for a good headset which would be used to play CSS and other games like this. (pc headset) I don't want to spend to much money, but I will spend as much as I need to in order to get a good quality one. Can someone suggest one for me to buy? :P

    Hi, For the past few days, even I am looking to buy a decent headset for general purpose gaming, ventrilo chatting, or skype chatting with my family without having to shout over a pc or laptop integrated mic. I went to Newegg for some answers but cannot find any decent priced good performing headset. I went to overstock and came up with the following search page for decent headsets: http://www.overstock.com/search?keywords=headset&taxonomy=sub17312&sortOption=Top+Sellers Out of these I can always bet my horses on Logitech or Microsoft headsets as they are affordable and get the job done and last 2-3 years. I bought a Sony headset 2-3 years back for $40 and they lasted for hardly 2 years. So I do not want to invest too much money into it knowing with some rough and tough uses these may not last beyond 2-3 years. I generally go for Sennheiser headsets as they are good value for money, and they are typically pretty durable (I'm clumsy - I need a headset that can survive being stepped on!)

Seconding Sennheiser for sound quality and value, but for gaming-specific use, take a look at the Logitech G35. I've had one for about a year and its proven excellent. It has 7.1 surround sound, which is awesome because you can tell where enemies are coming from much more accurately than with a stereo headset. Surround sound actually works as well. It will switch to 5.1 if the game doesn't support 7.1, and it will also work as a stereo headset. I've used it in plenty of games and the results have been superb. No issues whatsoever.
