How to update my video card drivers?

  • My graphics card driver is not up to date and I want to update it. I've tried going on their website to do it manually and automatically. I have also tried to open my control panel and update my drivers through the displays pane. I want to know how to uninstall my drivers and install the update but I don't know how and don't know what will happen if I make a mistake. Does anyone have the answer I need?

    First of all you need to know what graphic card you have. If you have Windows and I asssume you do go to Start > Control Panel (switch to classic view) > System click on Device manager and in the list find 'Display Adapter'. You can expand it to get more info by clicking on it. Once you know what card you have go the the manufacturer page and download the driver. Most common chips are made by nVidia and ATI. Onboard chips are dominated by Intel. Do no expect huge improvements in performance. New drivers are issued to fix bugs primarily and sometimes you get minor performance boost. The best way to get the better performance is to upgrade the card iself.

Go to your graphic card's web site(i.e nvidia or amd), there will be an option that'll automatically check if u need an update.click on it

It would really help if you provide the model of your display card.

You can uninstall it by going to device manager. Press window key + R and type devmgmt.msc, Look for the display adapters - double click to show its submenu Right click device under display adapters and click uninstall. Finally you have to restart your PC to complete the process. But I guess you don't need to do this just to update your video card drivers. You just have to download from the website and install it to your PC.
