Dell monitor screen blank?

Please help! New Monitor only shows Dell screen and loading windows screen and then.... (installed new RAM 2)?

• OK so I have a Dell desktop that I had hooked up to my livingroom TV to check it out to see what I might need to upgrade. Well I upgraded the RAM and purchased a new Samsung Monitor and plugged in my logitech mouse and keyboard (wireless) and I booted the computer. I can see the Dell boot screen (kinda, you can tell it is off center some) and then it goes dark and then I can see the progress bar loading Windows and I hear the start up tune (Vista) BUT then I have a blank screen. Plugged the Monitor in to my Laptop and it works immediately! Tried going into Bios and checking settings and nothing helped. I also unhooked the logitech KB and Mouse and re-connected the KB and Mouse that I had been using. Oh also in the Bios, it is recognizing the RAM as 5GB. I am at a loss! It is so hard to fix a video issue! As you can see what time it is..... I have been screwing with this for hours! Anyone have any ideas on what might be the problem?   Obviously there is an issue with accessible RAM. Just exactly how much did you install and is it a set of two matched chips? Need to know this. But there is one thing to look at and that is how things go with the old RAM setup that worked. You might try that. Then there always is safe mode to setup the correct monitor settings that you can get from your laptop when you connect the monitor to it. Clearly the current settings are not compatible with the new monitor. Safe mode is likely the only way you'll be able to set new ones. And, as I noted, you might have an issue with the new RAM. It is never a good idea to try to fix two things at once since they might have interactions. You do know how to get to safe mode, right? You know, F8 boot menu. You might also check out your BIOS settings both for RAM and video.
