Why doesn't my computer play dvds?

DVDs are jumpy when i play them on the computer?

  • When I play DVDs on computer, I get jumpy audio playback...? Using Power DVD and also tried Windows Media Player, but the same thing still happens... Nothing is wrong when I play CDs, but when I try watching DVDs, the audio is always jumpy... help? (note that im not a computer geek Dx) just to make things clear.... its not the dvds! they are new and not bootlegs or anything like that... when i use a regular dvd player, they play fine...but when on the computer, they are jumpy!

  • Answer:

Computers are worse at running DVDs. The only way to view them better is to improve your DVD drive, RAM, Video Card, and Audio Card. It will be very expensive.

Try restarting your computer before playing movies as that will help clear out the RAM. Make sure nothing is running in the background either. Some few simple things to try.

Either your DvD drive is an older model or your Computer is not powerfull enough to process the video data. Shut down everything you own including your Anti-Virus and try it.

Maybe the speed of your dvd player is slow or your running too many processes at the same time. Maybe the graphics card is lagging also

it could be your ram (random acces memory) or it could be your computer is slow like a 1g and can't process things quickly you could try looking up online websites to help speed up your computer. hope it helps
