How to fix a really scratched disk?

How to fix a severely scratched disk?

  • Ok, i bought Resident Evil 2 for PS1 on ebay. For all of you that have played the Resident Evil series you know that this is a classic. There are two disks that come with the game; one for each scenario. There is a Claire Disk and a Leon Disk, well the Claire disk is easier as far as gameplay goes, but the problem is there is a HUGE scratch that is on it. My friend says it cant be fixed and it costs too much to ship it back, and i cant afford another one; so i need a way to fix this scratch. Its pretty long and not too deep, but it causes the game to skip and stop sometimes. The game is still playable, but it wont stop skipping and it gets very irritating. Thanks :)

Try putting regular white toothpaste on it. Just rub it all on the back of the cd with your finger in circles. Then wash it off with a rag that is SLIGHTLY wet, in circles with your finger with the rag over it.

Don't buy any of that "scratch-fixer" stuff sold in department stores--it never works. Take it to a video rental store (like Family Video) or videogame retail store (like Gamestop) and have them resurface it. It'll cost a couple bucks, but the success rate is usually pretty high.

It's simple. All you have to do is rub the disc with peanut butter, put it in the toaster for 30 seconds on high. When that's done, take the peanut butter off then scrub it really hard with sandpaper. Then, rub it with a pickle and a toothpick. I hope it works. Also, thanx for the two points.

I have fixed reading glasses and some lightly marred discs with silicon spray lub/sealer. It is a hard wax when dry . Test out on any smooth surface. It wont soften the plastic . The spray evaporates and there is an oil if it is also for lubrication . Wipes off when all is dry. Hopefully you didnt get ripped off too badly. Toothpaste will leave a frosted finish. Maybe if all fails use paste, rub then polishing waxes/resins. Report if successful.Others will search this . There is a water sand paper used in shining up paint finishes or laquer coatings. Need some skill there.
