Why won't my CD drive work?

Sometimes cd or dvd drive wont work. it wont open when i press eject, it wont detect at all?

  • every now and then ill try to use my cd or dvd drive and it just dosent work at all. ill try to press the ejection button on the drive itself and it dosent even lightup. nothing. ill check out the "My Computer" section and the drive dosent show up. as if i never had one to begin with. nothing i try works. it only fixes itself if i restart the pc. any ideas?

Check the power cable of ur CD/DVD drive Change the power cable , if necessary And also look the pin points wether the all pins are firmly connects with power wires

irratic behaviour from CD or DVD drives are usually due to either failing hardware or faulty cabling. Open up your PC and make sure all cables are connected the right way. Apart from that, make sure that if you have two devices connected to a single cable, one is setup as Master and the other as Slave.

there is a little hole in the face of the drive (dvd cd drive) you have to use a straightend paperclip pushed into that hole with a little force then the bay will open ----it's hard on the drive though but it beats tearing it apart.
