  • Answer:

RAM has different types, the most recent are DDR, DDR2, and DDR3 but that's brand new so it won't that. You need to determine what your RAM's MHz rating is, you can find out by just taking out a stick of the RAM and finding a product key or something that identifies the stick, and then Google it to find out. If your new motherboard supports that card's MHz rating, for instance 667MHz, then you're good to go, but you should also check to make sure your other RAM is in the proper spot, you can't mix-match RAM. For instance if slot 1 and 2 were full, and 3 and 4 were empty, then you could just slap both into that. But if 1 and 3 are full, make sure you put the others in 2 and 4, or else it won't work.

If it not start it can be a lot of things hard disk, power source, memory... You can use the older computer's ram only if it is the same kind of memory that uses your new computer, and that is not very probably

Ofcourse you can , but before doing that, Chech the RAM type on your old computer... if it is anything else that a DDR(Double Data RAM ) , u cannot use it... and also check the mother board type... Intel 8086, or Asus... or Mercury.. It depends on how old your old computer is.. if its like 3 to 4 yrs old.. it should be ok... if its more than 5 yrs old , then it probably has SD RAM on it ,!! U cannot use SD RAM for a new computer....

not likely , it is possible but makes change so rapidly the chances of the memory requirements being the same are very very slim

Freedy

You have to make sure if compatible with your new computer.

There are a number of possible issues here. The main one being compatibility. Not all RAM is the same so it may not even fit in your new pc let alone work.

Lazerus101

Not likely. Slots are probably different. If the RAM slots are the same then sure. DIMMS DDR DDR2 all different.

NO, assume the ram is incompatable, as 1 machine is OLD one is NEW and ram specifications have changed LOTS over last while. Also stealing components of "unknows" status from another machine is always risky even if they would work together

stu_the_kilted_scot

Most likely no the ram in your old pc would be different than the ram in the new one. You do not tell us much though so its hard to know for sure.

james harvey

depends how old the ram has to be compatible
