How to make keyboard act as joystick?

I want to make the buttons on a jukebox act as a keyboard?

I am fixing up an old jukebox that does not work and I want to make the buttons on the front of it act as a keyboard for selecting music on a PC. Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to do this or is there something out there that can be bought to make this happen.

A good place to start would be MAME cabinet. People build there own arcade machine using pc's. As your project is very simmela a lot of the knowledge would be interchangeable.
