Is there a Print Screen Setting? My PrtScr button does not work.?
-
I have a multimedia Keyboard, same as a normal one, but with special buttons to bring up different programs faster. My print screen button does not work, i am not sure if its just the keyboard or another setting i am missing some place. I just want to copy the whole screen, tool bars and all. I have tried just "Prt Scr" I have tried Alt print screen, control print screen, shift print screen. and still I cannot get my whole screen image captured.

Answer:
Alt+Printscreen is a snapshot of the inner window to bitmap. Printscreen is everything on your screen to bitmap. Its default is to do what you want it to do, but if its not doing it i would say you have special keyboard and there may infact be settings, but as far as a normal keyboard goes im not aware of any settings.

I have used the print screen button before, works most of the time. you get no indication that it does anything ...no beeps or dialog boxes..What i do is after pressin teh print screen key , I open up teh paint program and choose "paste " from the edit toolbar . then you can save it of whatever you want to the snapshot of your desktop

PrintScr will capture the whole screen. Alt-PrintScr will only capture the active window. You will need to go into an application such as MS Word or MS Paint and PASTE the captured image into the application, then you can actually print the captured image from the application. Using PrtScr will only copy the information to the clipboard.

Of course, Im not there at your keyboard, but it is likely that it works, if you use it correctly. Print Screen does not actually print anything, it is a version of cut and paste, except with the entire screen instead of just selected text. Here is the correct method of using print screen. After you do this, you can actually print the document in the usual way from your text editor. 1. Put on your screen exactly what you want to "print". 2. Push the Print Screen Button, making sure you have the right "case", that is, you may have to hold down the shift key while pressing Print screen. 3. Open up your favorite Text Editor, such as Open Office Writer, Word, Notepad, etc. 4. Point your pointer inside the text editor as if you were going to type something in there. 5. Depress Ctrl and V at the same time. There is your "screen". It works, I have done it hundreds of times.

The print screen option doesn't usually work on its own. Usually you have to <shift><PrtScr> then paste it into a document such as MS Word <ctrl><v> and then print that page. You will be able to adjust the size of the pasted image to fill a full page. Hope that helps!

You can download programs that do it for you.
