When does function order matter?

Is there an Alphabetical Order function on Word?

  • So, I have a giant list of names, and I'd like them to be in alphabetical order, but to do it myself would take too much effort. (LOL) Anyways, there should be a function that will put my list into aplhabetical order, but I can't anything! Please help. Is there a function that will put them into aplhabetical order for me? And if so, how do I get to it? (I'm using the 2007 version of Microsoft Word.)

  • Answer:

If each of the items to be sorted is in a paragraph by itself, do this: 1. Select all the paragraphs. 2. Click the Home tab on the ribbon. 3. In the Paragraph group, click the AZ↓ button. Hope that helps.

From the Menu Bar select Table, Sort A Sort Text Window will appear and from there you can make some choices of how to sort.

The first answerer is correct - for Word 2003. I don't know if there is a table menu with Sort in it in 2007. If not, just search on Sort in the Help to find it. It will be there.
