Can you partition a drive without erasing data?

How do I get data from a hard drive that died due to a corrupted partition table?

  • Answer:

There are various procedures to recover data from standard ATA Hard Disks. If you are relatively unexperienced with computers, I would suggest going to a professional in your area to restore the data. If you're willing to take the time try stellarinfo, it's highly recommended. I've left a couple of links for you as well. Also, you may try Norton Ghost, ghost the partition or disk and then go back in through Ghost Explorer and extract the files that way.

Secondary (non-boot) drives can be moved freely and work fine without any issues, unless you'd encrypted or protected them in some way.
