How do I change email setting on my scanner?

How do I change my scanner's file type setting on my HP Photosmart c3140?

  • I keep searching their site and the help window on my scanner's window, but all it keeps telling me is that i can add file types to the list, thats what i want to do, but nothing is directing me on how to do it, and I'm getting frustrated. It scans as a jpeg, bitmap, gif, or tif, and says i can add more to the list, i wanna add PNG to the list, and i know i can because i had it like that before but i had to reinstall it recently. Any help on how to change that setting?

  • Answer:

After you've scanned it and go to save it, can you save it as a PNG from the drop down list? * Here's another idea. When I save a picture I see now it's only offerering a choice of jpeg or bitmap. I opened Publisher and inserted the picture which I'd already saved previously. Then I right clicked on "save as picture". The option of PNG came up. It's longwinded but it might help.

you can use the scanner and camera wizard to perform the task. there is an option to select the type when you click at the drop down list. click start, click printers and faxes, click scanners and cameras, double click scanner image device (scanner and camera wizard pops up, click next, choose scanning preferences then click next, click the drop down box to select format desired, continue with the desired options. good luck!
