Fax machine/printer problems?

Why am I having problems with Windows Fax and Scan?

• I am trying to set up Windows Fax and Scan on a fax modem. I go to New Fax~Connect to a Fax Modem~Choose the Device Name as "Fax Modem"~Answer Automatically, than it says "There was an error configuring the account. Please contact your administrator". How exactly do I do this so it works?

  I'll carry off the previous poster's comments. First make sure that the modem is properly seated on the motherboard connector, and you have the phone line properly connected to the modem. Next, make sure that the modem drivers are installed. You may have drivers on a CD that came with your computer, or you may be able to go you your computer manufacturer's web page, and go to their support section and download drivers from there. Drivers are essentially small computer programs that tell windows how to communicate with your modem.
