How to change scan document format?

  • change format of scanned document

  • Answer:

I assume you mean the file type? IE: .jpg to .tif, or .gif, etc. That should be a setting in the software that opens the scan. There are 2 ways this is done that I've seen used. The first is if the scan opens in a commercial graphics program. I scan into Graphic Converter on my Macs and the save window that opens has a menu that allows the choice of file type to be used to save the scan. On mine, the menu is a drop down type that has the last used file type as the default and an arrow on the end that allows choosing others. This is in the box under the box that allows setting the name to be used for the saved file. Yours might not be exactly the same layout, but it should have both boxes somewhere. The second is if your scans open in software specific to your scanner. If you use software that is usable with your model scanner only (came bundled with it.) you may need to look in the preferences (or whatever that software calls them) for a place to change the file type.

The scanning software which came with your scanner. When you run it to operate your scanner, would surely be giving you an option such as settiing, or a window in which you can change the size of the image, resolution (dpi), color/B-W and also the type of output..whether BMP, JPG, TIF, GIF or any other. Have a look at the screen carefully. Sometimes it is just on the click of the button, and sometimes after the preview has been done.
