How do you scan picture onto your computer with the HP photosmart printer?

SCANNING PROBLEM WITH MY HP PHOTOSMART C4680 WITH SNOW LEOPARD!!! HELP ME!!!!?

ok i have snow leopard on my mac. i have the hp photosmart c4680. when i try to scan a picture, it says error on the printer screen. i dont even know what im doing! i plugged in the USB connected to the printer in the USB slot into my computer. and then i thought you can just scan the picture, but i guess not. please help me and tell me what to do!

You need to install the printer and scanner drivers first to be able to scan and set up your printer.
