How to extract a specific text from an image?

Is there a way to scan in the mirror image of text?

  • I want to scan in images and text, and then print those images and text onto the special transfer paper made for ironing on and transferring the images onto fabric. Then, I'll iron those images and text onto fabric. My problem is that written text will be backward when I iron it onto the fabric. If I could scan it in to my computer, and then produce a mirror image of the text and print it that way, then I would be ironing on the mirror image of the text, which would then be applied correctly onto the fabric. I know that you can rotate images once they are scanned, but that just has the text upside down. What I need is a way to have the text printed backward. (And it's fine if the images are printed backward, as well.) Does anyone know if there is a way to scan text in and then produce the mirror image, or make the text backward? Thanks in advance.

  • Answer:

I assume you're using Windows: Scan whatever you need to scan normally. Then open up the picture in Microsoft Paint. Use the Flip feature. And flip it horizontally for text that reads left to right. For text the reads bottom to top flip vertically.

Scan it in as a jpg or similar picture file. Open the scanned image with a photo editing program like GIMP and choose flip image or invert image.

Your printer software should have a function that lets you print a mirror image.
