How to scan documents and put it in document folder?

I am trying to scan my old stories into my computer. The printer and computer is hooked up but . . ?

  • Okay I know how to put the paper into the printer and press scan. Right now it goes into the program HP photo smart Essentials. How do I get it into microsoft works processor?? I know what a OCR program is but what is really good one is there a free download and how do I get the documents to my word proccessor. When it goes into the photo program I can't copy or cut, and I can't change the document. Is there a way to tell the printer or the COMPUTER that I am scanning a document and not a picture? I know about OCR programs but I don't know how to tell my computer and or scanner that I am scanning a document. I cannot access my documents though my old computer because of a virus. I have the begins of my stories on an older computer but I would still have a big problem. This would be an easy ten points if anyone could tell me what to do so I can put my precious stories from computer To texed printed out documents to the scanner and than to microsoft word where I can continue working on my stories. Any and all help would be very appreciated! Thank you in advanced!! The only question my printer asks is import to owner's printer. I have adobe reader 9 can't I use that for scaning the document into adobe reader. 3 hours ago Hey no way? I don't understand how to use tools? Program in into my printer? My printer/scanner is connected to my computer? How to I get to tools? Through the compter? Because the printer only asks copy color, copy black/white or scan. There is no way to select anything else on the printer and where would I see the tools thing to select to scan into the adobe or word program? Thank you for all the help from everone please exsplain it step by step because in this case I am not sure what to do or how to do it. Thank you!!

  • Answer:

I, too, have an HP all-in-one. It has a Scan To button on its console that allows me to pick one of several scan modes. One is MS Word (.doc format, probably), but Works Word Processor doesn't appear in the list. You might try MS Word (Works Word Processor can handle .doc files). Also, when I installed the printer, HP also put an icon to the HP Director program. One of the options in this program is Scan Document (probably also to Word format). This might be easier to use. All that being said, remember that OCR is an art, not a science. I can almost guarantee that you will have to fix: 1. Mis-converted fonts. 2. Mis-read characters (i for l, for instance, o, 0 or Q mixups) 3. Mangled layout. Hope that helps.
