Is a hp 110 better than a 210?

I tried scanning a 110 negative with my HP Photosmart 3210 All-In-One, and...?

  • Well, because of the printer not normally accepting 110 negatives (only 35mm) I tried an experiment of making my own slide, so that I can fit a 110 negative inside and make the printer register it as a real slide. It's hard to explain the details, but the finished result was: I got the printer to read the 110 negative, but it still LOOKED like a negative (green skin etc.) when printed. I don't get it. Visually, a 110 negative looks just like a 35mm negative when you hold it up in light, only smaller. So why didn't the printer read the negative in color instead of looking like a regular negative? I SO BADLY wish my printer had a 110 negative scanner. There's no excuse for it NOT to.

  • Answer:

When you make your own slide using the 35mm skin make sure that you have used thin cardboard on the surround of the 110 so that there is no unwanted light coming straight up into the scanner. You should have a good clean scan resulting from this. Use a plastic 35mm skin and place the 110 at the bottom, holding in place with a tiny bit of tape, ensuring this does not touch, or cover the image. Cut a piece of cardboard to fill the rest of the space in the 35mm skin again use tape to secure. Close the 35mm skin and away you go.
