My wireless printer won't scan?

Canon printer wont scan please help with this?

  • The printer which is a canon mp250 pixma prints fine but wont scan, when go into the software it says cannot commuinicate with scanner cable maybe disconnected or scanner turned off check status, scanner driver will be closed. So what does this mean, it keeps going around around, the led light in display unit but it wont scan, the software is picasa 2 that came with printer/flatbed scanner which is combined unit.

  • Answer:

The Canon combined printer/scanner must be present in the device managers list for imaging devices. Under properties the driver tab should show Canon as the supplier. Without the driver or the device in the list no software will be able to scan. You can still print because that uses a different driver. End line is to reinstall the Canon drivers.

Other answers

If the scanner USED TO work but won't work now, you could try re-installing the software. I presume you have double-checked that the USB cable is fully inserted at both ends. Are you SURE that Picasa is capable of driving your scanner? You MIGHT need the actual Canon software.
