Why is my scanner not working?

My scanner's not working and I don't know why?

• I tried to scan one of my drawings on my Dell V305 printer/scanner/fax via Photoshop CS5, but my Scanner's not being detected. The upsetting part of it all is that I checked to see if maybe the scanner needed to be updated, since I made the change from Vista to Windows 7, and my computer's saying that everything's up to date. I checked to make sure that everything's connected properly and that communications between the tower and scanner combo are ok and sure enough, my computer's saying that everything's fine. When I try to scan my picture via the Device and Printers section in the Control Panel, I get the following message: "An error occurred while setting scanner properties. If another program is scanning, please wait for it to complete and try again" What does this mean? I'm not scanning anything else; your assistance is greatly appreciated.

  try looking for udates for widows 7 as that might be the problem ,i had windows and when i updated to vista lots of things wouldnot work proerly even had to go buy a different wireless system that was compatable to vista. or try to reboot it that might work
