Can anyone tell me what a scanner is?

On the Hp Officejet 5610 All-In-One copier, fax and scanner. Can anyone tell me how to use the scan function?

• Everytime I try to use the scan function, it says there isn't a connection. But the copier and the fax functions work fine. What am I doing wrong?

  You may not have installed properly the drivers that's why you can use the scan function. However, if you have a Graphics Software installed on your PC like Photoshop, you can try to check if it works, but make sure to turn the scanner on first before opening Photoshop. Then on the File Menu click Import and select your device. Hope that helps....
