Where can you buy ink for quills?

When you buy ink for your printer/scanner /copier do you have to buy both the colored one and the black ink?

• Someone at Staples told me today that you have to buy all 3 or it won't work. I have a Brother but I was also asking about ink for an HP. To buy both it costs $70/$80. I can't afford that much. I thought it would be $30 or $40.

  Unfortunately, my friend, both of your first respondents are absolutely wrong. You DO need to replace both cartridges. It's the same for most, if not all, modern day All-in-One/Multi-function printers. Some specific printers will work with third-party ink cartridges, but others will not. Sadly, you don't tell us which specific Brother All-in-One printer it is that you have. (Many modern day ink cartridges have a chip that makes the ink cartridge become obsolete when the ink is used up, but some can be refilled, allowing you to use the cartridge several times.) The chances of you being able to use a HP ink cartridge in a Brother printer are non-existent. Sorry, but that WAS a lie. If you could edit your question with details of the specific model and/or the numbers of the ink cartridges, someone MAY come along and see what they can find out for you. I meant to say that with modern day All-in-One printers it's a requirement that all ink cartridges are in place, and that they all contain ink. As you've found out, this also includes when you wish to scan, even though ink isn't used for this process.
