What is a good radio scanner?

What is a good racing scanner to purchase? Is Radio Shack Pro-84 combo good. I want to use it at Indy.?

  • I go to the Indy 500 every year and would like to get a decent scanner. I found the RadioShack combo for 99 bucks but don't know if it will suit my needs. I intend to let my kids use it at the Brickyard too.

    ANY good handheld scanner that can be programmed to the necessary frequencies will be acceptable, and do what you want. The main problem is finding out what frequencies are being used. One that has "band search" capabilities (most good ones do) would probably be your best bet.
