Portable barcode scanner?

Barcode Scanner on computer?!?!?! Is it possible to use a barcode scanner with laptop. I sell books...

  • and I keep a record of all my books on amazon only-I do not keep another log of my books in excel or anything. At the moment I have to manually type in the barcode number of each of my books into the amazon book finder thing; and this is so time consuming and tedious. I am wondering if there is a faster way that I can log my books onto amazon, without having to type in every single barcode. Does anyone know whether or not I could use a barcode scanner instead of manually typing in the barcode number into the amazon seach tool? Is this possible? Any help will be much appreciated, thank you.

Just install the s/ware for the scanner and then connect it when asked.

A barcode scanner either comes in three types of connection: PS2, USB, or Serial most modern types of laptop do not have either PS2 or Serial so you need to get a USB if this is all you have. Besides that, different software uses different formats of scanner and there are about 30 of these you need to check what format you use to make sure your software and scanner are compatible. you could use a serial usb adapter but i advise against that as they can be unreliable and permenant use can cause bugs.
