How can I format my xD memory card?

I've recently copied and pasted pics from my PC onto my memory card, and now every time I insert the memory card into my Olympus camera, it asks me to format, I push yes, then it says card error. I've even tried formatting the card on my PC and it tells me that it is unable to complete the format. I don't know what else to try. Does anyone have any ideas that may be able to help me?

Hello jennifer.., As you said that you are unable to format the memory card then it meas that your anti virus is not updated so first update your antivirus and then follow => My computer -> properties -> manage -> computer management -> storage -> disk management -> select the memory card and then format it from here. It will now format your memory card defiantly. Thanks

The possible reasons are: 1. Sometimes, you cannot format the drive to the FAT filesystem if it has been formatted to a filesystem which is not recognized by Windows. Such a drive should be reformatted to NTFS first, and then to the FAT filesystem. 2.There is a bad sector in the area that is required for a filesystem, e.g. for a boot sector or the FAT table sector. Since such a drive is obviously not possible to use, Windows refuses to format it. Try to format it to NTFS first and then to FAT filesystem (if needed) .

I believe you have a bad card. I don't think you can do anything to fix it. You have tried everything.

Sounds like it's knackered to me - maybe a case of buying a new one sweetie.
