Canon S200 printer?

My Canon MX310 printer will not scan properly:-?

• My Canon MX310 printer will not scan properly:- When the printer is installed (with Vista Ultimate) everything works OK, i.e. printer, copier, scanner & fax. Then when printer machine is turned off and then back on again (with computer still on) scanner will no longer work. Print and copy still work OK. I get error message “Cannot communicate with scanner. Cable may be disconnected or scanner turned off.” If I then uninstall and re install the printer driver, everything works ok, until I switch the printer off /on again. Then same problem occurs. Cables were not touched or disturbed. I then tried connecting the printer to all other 5 USB ports, to no avail. Printer cable is only1.5m long. I then connected and installed the printer onto my second computer (which has Windows XP) and the scanner works perfectly all the time regardless of being switched off/on, so I guess there is something wrong with my main computer and not the printer scanner itself. The Canon help desk was very understanding, but could not offer a solution. I do have the latest printer driver. I also have an older Epson Stylus RX650 printer scanner, which when connected to the main computer works and scans OK all of the time. But I would rather use the Canon. I do hope you can be of assistance.

  Just do NOT turn off your printer when it's on "Scan" mode.
