I would first check things out with my computer vendor... Dell, HP, etc. If you can not resolve your issue with them I would: 1) use Driver Genius Pro to backup my drivers to a .exe file 2) borrow an OEM copy of your version of XP from a friend and copy it, you paid for licensing since you have a COA sticker on your computer There is another way... if you are happy with the way your system is setup at the moment and you system is clean from virus & spyware, I would use a backup/clone program such as Norton Ghost or Acronics software to make a copy of your hard drive. You'll need an external hard drive to keep this on for future use. Before I do extensive work on a computer, I often Ghost it so I don't lose the clients' data.

the simplest way is to get norton ghost or acronis trueimage and create a backup snapshot of your hard drive. You can then reimage a new drive should your old one fail. This will copy and exact setup of your XP install including personal files etc With most manufacturers who do not supply disks there is often a hidden recovery partition on the hard drive to restore your machine back to factory install condition, and some give you the option of creating a set of recovery disks. If you have this you could use this to create a recovery set. I would check your manual

You can make an iso image of the whole harddrive, even with all your programs you have installed with a program called Acronis True Image, if your computer crashes you just run the dvd set which you have made and it will completly restore everything, but this program is not free.
