How to scan real object by the use of scanner?

  • some scanner manufacturors claim their product scanner can scan real object such as wrist watch, apple and coin and produce digital image for archives and e-mail...

  • Answer:

You can't scan a real object with good result. If its flat enough you can achieve lil bit of clarity. You can't close the door properly when you place some objects. Light source escapes easily and no proper reflection to the CCD to make the digital image. It means less in clarity. Better use a digital cam to get good result. Or else, you can take a photograph and scan the photo. Using real objects also scratches the glass on the scanner. It'll lead to a permanent mark in all your further scans.

think of a photo copier it will only copy the side it sees same principle with a scanner you could scan apples, watches etc but what would be the point :)

I use my scanner all the time for "real" objects. I just remove the lid and cover the object with a towel or whatever. I get better resolution for small objects than with my digital camera.

Hillaryforpresident

just place them over it

put a blank cd in and scan that

I have a flatbed scanner by Microtek (Phantom) and tried to scan a couple of objects on that and the image is fuzzy and out of focus. better to use a camera or if its small a good camera with a macro function.
