Why won't my printer scan?

  • I press the scan button on my printer and the light in the corner blinks and then just stops and it doesn't scan and nothing on my computer happens. I have an HP Deskjet F4180 All-in-One, and the software for the printer is all installed and everything. Anyone know what to do?

    Hi Josh If you installed your drivers correctly, you must use the scanning software that came with your HP or use Photoshop. Otherwise, un-install all of the software and proceed in this manner. Power on the office jet and disconnect the usb cable from the printer. Now, install the software and it will advise you to connect the usb to the printer. Do it. Now the software will complete. Reboot. Windows will find the new hardware. Now go in the Hp photosmart software, I believe that is what it's call or Photosmart Essential and scan from there. It will work

Well, sometimes, your printer gets tired meaning that if it's left on for quite a while such as 2 hours, it'll get stuck. Try restarting your computer at first. If that doesn't work, turn your printer off for an hour or so. Try then. Usually works. 95% chance of working. Glad I could help ***I HOPE*** Well... Cheers :)

Did this work before and has stopped working or have you just installed for first time? Is software/driver compatible with your version of Windows? You might need to check with the HP site and see if a newer version is available.
