Help with HP computer and HP printer?

Please Help!! I can't install HP Laserjet 2840 Printer on Vista 64-bit Computer.?

  • Hey everyone! I just purchased a desktop with Vista 64-bit. I've been trying to install my HP Laserjet 2840 printer to it and I can't seem to get it to work. I have downloaded the drivers from HP websites but still no luck. The installation process seems to go ok but the printer won't respond to any printing commands. I know there is nothing wrong with the printer since I hook it up to my XP with no problem. Please help! I run a small business at home and need the printer urgently. Any advise would be helpful, just no dumb remarks please. Thanks. -Elizabeth

    This is the easy and best way. Go to HP website>then go to Driver and downloads then you should be able to find your way. Note: You might have to serch drivers and downloads if you cant find it or it might not be called drivers and downloads but it will be something like that. Try calling the HP help-desk may... well... help! They have helped me many-o-times. Also, Windows Vista 64-bit does have many compatability issues still, and may have out-dated your printer, sadly.

1. It looks like the Vista Drivers for this printer are general "Universal Print Drivers" because this printer was not made for Vista. 2. Download (HPUPD45PCL664.exe ) from here: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=445194&swItem=ja-45285-9&prodNameId=445197&swEnvOID=2100&swLang=8&taskId=135&mode=4&idx=1 Double click on the file. It will self extract to a folder on the C Drive. Use Add New Printer Wizard in Vista to install the drivers, pointing to this folder when doing so. Hopefully that will work.

download and install the latest printer software/driver for your operating system. select the appropriate driver. your choices are PCL5, PCL6 and postscript at http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=445197&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=445194&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=2100 good luck!
