How do I hook up my laptop to a shared printer?

I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop and I want to hook it up to another computer's printer in my house, I already have the printer set to "shared" and when I go to add a printer on my computer it asks me for the printer name, I type it in and it says it's incorrect. Do I have to install the printer on my laptop? Please help with step by step instructions!!

IF your printer is set to share on the local network, then you have to install the print drivers for it on the laptop. Go to add a printer on the laptop. Select network printer. Have the system search for the printer. NOTE: The main computer must also be set to share, so you can see it on your network places. Once the print wizard locates the printer, you will have to install the drivers. You will need to download them, or have the disk from the printer. Once the printer is installed, and you have printed a test page to make sure it is working, you will be good to go.
