Why isn't my printer hooking up?

Hooking up a Printer Wirelessly?

  • I have a new Toshiba Laptop running Windows 7. The Kodak ESP 5210 Series AiO printer is connected to a desktop computer with the USB cable, and that computer runs Windows XP. I had the printer set up wirelessly through my old ACER laptop running Vista. I tried to do the printer on my new computer this morning and no matter how I do it I get nothing - just says cannot communicate. We are running our Internet on Comcast - provides TV, Internet and Phone and they supplied the modem/router, so our laptops run wirelessly from that. I tried using connecto to local printer and did that and I tried using connection thru Bluetooth, Wireless, etc. I get that Windows cannot connect to the printer and I got "Operation Failed with Error Ox0000000d". I tried add printer, selected Add Local Printer and created a new Port using "Local Port' as type. Entered the network path chose the printer and chose the drivers to download. It all looked good until I ried to print and then I got nothing. Can anyone help - apparently something in Windows 7 is different? Thank you.

  • Answer:

You might want to try and see if your printer is compatible with Windows 7 through the Compatibility Center on the Windows website. If it is indeed compatible, you might want to utilize the HomeGroup feature. -- Ryan Windows Outreach Team
