How do I hook up 2 computers to one printer?

Several computers one printer....?

  • how do I hook more then one computer to one printer all my computers are hooked up through a router for the internet but are otherwise independant. The printer is hooked up directly to one computer which is the only one that I can print on.

    Hi there, I have the same thing at my work and this is how we did it our computers are connected via router and we have printer connected to one computer and it must be on for the others to print to it . if you have other printers connected to other computers this works in the same way IE mono printer connect to reception and colour to admin etc and then you select the printer you wish to print to I hope this helps

HOOK UP THE PRINTER TO A ROUTER AS WELL and share the printer between all the computers. Printers can be hooked up to a router as well and shared between them all.

If you do hook into the router, you will have to make sure that you have either a network card in the printer, or a router that has a USB port on it.
