Can laser printer cartridge be refilled?

Why does my Kodak ESP 9 printer still says replace ink cartridge after i just refilled it?

  • I just bought an ink refill kit for my black cartridge on my Kodak ESP 9. I looked up how to refill it and I had a tool to drill into the top and used a syringe to refill 10 mL into the cartridge. When I reloaded it back into the printer it still displays the message "Black ink cartridge needs replacing" and won't go any further. There is no exit and I can't get to any menus on the printer. Is there any way to clear this error or was there an error in the way I refilled the ink cartridge to begin with? Thanks in advance.

  • Answer:

It will never show as anything other than low ink with refills. There are chips in them that tell the printer the ink is low. Refilling does not supply new information to the chip so the chip still tells the printer the ink is low and needs replacing.

It is basically real easy and a lot cheaper to refill ink cartridges. But, the problem you are facing is that most printers do not recognize refilled ink cartridges anymore. I know brand ink cartridges are costly, but there is not much you can do about.

alot of your ink refill kits, and remanufactured inks will not read, other then the original manufactured ones! You may try refilling the original ones you had or have!
