HP 4355 printer scan error using MAC. What is the fix?

Using a MAC and a HP 4355 I cannot scan using the HP Device Manager, HP Scan Pro. I receive a message, " Error, Sorry a unknown error occurred.

Re-installo the software but this time, do not plug in the USB cable to the computer. Begin the installation and let the program tell you when to connect the cable to the omputer. Let it finish and reboot your Mac. You can also install the generic TWAIN driver. This way, you can open photoshop and SELECT your scanner from the file menu and you are good to go.

Apparently, my friend, the only driver for the Mac OS is for Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. I don't know if this is the version of Mac OS that your computer is running.
