How do you use your printer connected by wifi?

Can i use WiFi on my printer if my computer is connected to the net via an ethernet cable?

  • I have a Canon MP640. Can I set it up using WiFi (so that I have less cords hanging around) if my computer is connected to the internet using a ethernet cable. I have tried to use the printers manual but it's asking me for 'access point name' and 'network key'....then the printer is asking me about WEP... and I really have no idea what to do!!!

  • Answer:

'access point name' means the ethernet cable number and WEP means wireless Equivalency Protocol i really don't know whats meant by network key HOPE that helped

For you to connect your printer to your computer wireless you needed to have a wireless router. The wireless printer is looking for a wireless network to connect to your computer. Your printer might have detected a secured wireless network near your place that is why its asked for a WEP key, it's like the password of the secured wireless network.
