Epson Stylus stopped printing?

Why is my printer printing faded prints with white lines through it? EPSON STYLUS?

  • my epson stylus was printing faded prints with white lines through it, I replaced the cartridges yet its STILL printing the same if not worse.Ive cleaned the head etc but no joy please help

  • Answer:

Unfortunately the print heads are blocked. With some of the older Stylus printers this can be the end of the printer. Try a few more cleaning cycles. You used to be able to buy 3rd party cleaning cartridges for Epson printers but I haven't seen these around for a while, so it may be worth trying to find some of those and giving them ago. Failing that its time to get a new printer as it will certainly be cheaper than getting your current one repaired. To stop this from happening again in future leave the printer switched on all the time. I know this is counter intuitive to everything we're told these days. It also makes the ink cartridges last longer as the printer does a head purge everytime it starts up and shuts down wasting ink.

this $7 cleaning kit often solves the problem with most inkjets except for HP which have the heads in the cartridge and not the printer. http://ccs-digital.com/epson-head-cleaner.asp

If it's conked out, buy a laser printer, those ink jets are lousy quality. No problem with blocked print heads.
