Why does my old HP printer get stuck?

Printer help! My printers paper keeps getting stuck what could be causing it?

  • I have a HP 2400. THe paper seems to get stuck could it be the type of paper i am using. I have checked the printer to see if there are any trapped bits of paper in the printer and I can't see any sign of any paper remains. the only thing I can think is the type of paper or the printer has packed in.

I have had this problem on occasions. If you are using one of the cheaper papers that are usually thinner, make sure you don't overload with paper and flip through the paper before loading to make sure the pages are separate. If the printer is pulling through more than one page at a time it causes it to jam up.

Make sure that it is clean inside, buy some compressed air and clear it and then try it again, maybe the paper size is different? If this doesn't work then maybe you need a new printer.

When you say the type of paper, what do you mean? Most domestic printers usually use *80g/m² weighted paper and some can handle a maximum of up to 120g/m² * the paper weighs 80 grams per square metre. Normal A4 copy paper. After that you getting up to the thickness of card which most printers can't handle. Proper card starts at 160g/m² weight.

May need cleaning. Also try to find/use recommended paper for that model printer.
