Where do you refill your ink cartridges?

Where do they refill ink cartridges at nowadays?

  • I remember when Walgreens use to do it for only like $15 bucks! Where is WA state can I go to get mine refilled so I can save money!

  • Answer:

Go to http://www.cartridgeworld.com/home.aspx then enter your zip code in the "Find a Store" module then click the Search button. Use the pulldown menu on the results page to select more results to be displayed, up to 25.    They use better inks than Walgreen's and if the store is run by anyone even halfway competent they'll have a printer or other test machine to test your cartridge after they fill it to be sure it works correctly.    Prices are usually around 35% cheaper than buying an OEM cartridge from Staples or OfficeMax and carry a 100% satisfaction guarantee.    Additional info: The spam answer added after mine is a load of crap, it makes no sense and is blatantly wrong in several respects. Much of the information contained in the linked article is outdated or just plain wrong.    The insinuation that refills void the warranty on the printer (but compatibles somehow don't) is incorrect, at least in the US. There are antitrust laws which prevent the manufacturer from voiding a warranty due to the use of aftermarket parts or supplies, and the Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act of 1975 also prohibits requiring branded parts or supplies be used in order to maintain warranty coverage.    A refilled or remanufactured cartridge is an OEM cartridge, guaranteed to fit correctly and utilizing the proper electronics to dispense the ink properly. A compatible is made somewhere else, by someone unrelated to the manufacturer and often doesn't quite fit properly as they tend to take shortcuts in the manufacturing process. I can guarantee you that any "compatible" cartridge you will buy with an integrated print head does not have the same degree of technology in the print head and related electronics. You will absolutely notice a notice in print quality. If it's just a tank (no print head built into the cartridge, just basically a box of ink), like an Epson, Brother, or most Canons, THEN you may be ok with a compatible as long as they use decent ink. Maybe...    Then there's the ink, a reputable refill service will use quality inks, Cartridge World for example uses inks specifically formulated to meet or exceed OEM quality, with specific inks developed for specific manufacturers and specific series of cartridges within each manufacturer's product line. Compatibles tend to use so-called "universal" inks. A refiller will also be more likely to fill the cartridge to guarantee a page yield meeting the OEM, and often to exceed the OEM page yield.    Yes, sometimes ink detection is disabled or inoperable with a refilled cartridge, but if done properly by a reputable service with competent staff they'll usually outperform compatibles. Plus you know where they are if there's a problem, you take it back and exchange it for another. Quick, convenient and at no expense to you. Good luck getting a refund for a compatible, you lose the original shipping costs AND you pay to ship back the defective one and IF you are lucky they replace or refund it. There's something to be said for face to face contact in a business transaction.

since you can buy brand new compatible cartridges for a lot less (I pay under $3 for my epson cartridges) why would you want to pay $15 for a refill? they often don't work. they can damage the printer and it will not be covered under warranty. for details read http://ccs-digital.com/refills.asp
